Generally, this position is used for submissions as the advantaged fighter doesn't have any striking advantage here. The advantage here is to the fighter on the back of the other. The top fighter can throw weak body punches and attempt submissions but it's really no more advantageous than side control and is probably worse. The bottom fighter has basically no offensive options here while the top fighter can throw short punches and knees to the body while also having access to solid submission attempts.Д«ecause knees to the head of a downed opponent are banned in US Mixed Martial Arts, this position is a bit useless. The top fighter can opt to submit, but the bottom fighter still has some leg control so a top submission attempt isn't strong.ДЄ major advantage to the top fighter. The top fighter gains even more of a striking advantage and reduces the submission advantage of the bottom fighter.

The bottom fighter can execute very weak kicks but should really be concerned about getting out of this position. The top fighter has a huge striking advantage, able to deliver very powerful punches. The fighter on bottom cannot submit from this position unless he catches the opponent's punch.

The fighter on top has a striking advantage here, and with his head free he can rain down more powerful punches. The fighter on bottom has solid submission options from full guard since he maintains solid control over the top fighter's posture. The fighter on top has a striking advantage here, though with his head held down his strikes won't have much sting. Basically the same as a normal back mount with hooks in, the body triangle gives the back fighter more control and generally makes it more difficult for the disadvantaged fighter to change position. You'll see this from BJJ fighters as the back fighter crosses his legs around the disadvantaged fighter to hold him better. Only the top fighter can attempt a submission. The bottom fighter can fire back with small shots but should be more concerned with improving position. The top fighter has a striking advantage here with solid punches and even knees to the body possible. As well, the bottom fighter can, from mission control, transition to top positions. The top fighter's movement is significantly restricted, negating his striking advantage from the top. The bottom fighter has no offensive options and so should immediately attempt a transition.ДЄ BJJ fighter can, from the bottom, transition to rubber guard mission control by pulling his leg up and over the back of the top fighter. The top fighter can throw very heavy punches from this position and even go for a guillotine choke. But some defensive transitions from the bottom act as reversals and actually move you further down the chart while switching defensive/offensive roles with the other fighter. Defensive transitions generally move you back up the chart, putting yourself (as a defensive, bottom fighter) in less terrible positions. Virtually all offensive ground transitions move you further down the chart, but defensive transitions aren't as simple. To stop a takedown in UFC 3 youвЂ™ll need two things. The best way to defend against these grapplers and their takedowns is to stay on your feet by denying the takedown in the firstplace. There are good grapplers in every division, and allowing them to take you to the ground can end up in quick submissions or excessive damage. Just like in real MMA there are some fighters in UFC 3 that you simply do not want taking you to the ground.
